How this works

  1. We resolve the domain, then map its IP to a network owner using public routing data (Team Cymru IP-to-ASN).
  2. We fetch the homepage once to read response headers and detect WordPress, Shopify, Wix and other platforms.
  3. We read public RDAP registration data for registrar and expiry where the extension supports it.

Frequently asked questions

Why does it say Cloudflare?

Cloudflare and similar CDNs sit in front of the real server. The visible IP is theirs, so the origin host cannot be read from outside.

How accurate is the host name?

It is a best guess from the network owner, nameservers and headers. Resellers on big clouds can show the cloud, not the hosting brand.

Can I see the hosting company of any site?

Only what is publicly visible. Private origins and WHOIS-privacy details are not exposed.

Does this tool store the domains I check?

Results are cached briefly to protect the service. We do not publish or sell lookups.
